AWARD-WINNING PRODUER, DIRCTOR & CINEMATOGRAPHER

John Hopkins is a celebrated mixed-heritage Director/DP with North African Berber roots, on his father's side, immigrated to the UK. Hopkins' parents later moved to Canada to practice medicine as a doctor and nurse team. His mother Hilda Woolnough RCA, who studied under sculpter Henry Moore became a highly respected professional artist in Canada.

The family moved to Prince Edward Island in 1969 where his mother was invited to teach fine arts and cinema at UPEI, while her partner poet/novelist Reshard Gool, an East Indian from South Africa, taught politics and literature. While growing up in PEI John Hopkins met many of Canada's finest artists, poets and writers who were frequent visitors to the family home which jokingly became known as "The Consulate" in Charlottetown.

Hopkins is proud to have been selected in the past to pitch at the IDFA Forum in Amsterdam.  He has also won “Best Project” and "Best Film" at the Atlantic Film Festival. John Hopkins regularly attends festivals and makets such as Lunenburg DocFest, TIFF, Hot Docs, Sunnyside, Input, Independent Feature Film Project, Raindance, Banff, and Congress of History and Science Producers.
